Pormal nang pumasok sa Senate impeachment court ang House prosecution panel nitong Lunes at idineklarang handa na itong ituloy ang impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ipinakilala ni lead prosecutor at Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro ang House panel sa impeachment court na pinamumunuan ni presiding officer Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
“We are 11 House prosecutors and 15 private prosecutors … We are ready, Your Honor,” sabi ni Luistro sa impeachment court.
Matapos nito, inatasan ni Escudero ang members ng House panel at ang mga abogadong tutulong sa kanila na isa-isang mag-enter ng appearance para sa record.
Kasama ni Luistro sa panel of prosecutors sina Reps. Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno ng Akbayan Party-list, Leila de Lima ng Mamamayang Liberal Party-list, Joel Chua ng Manila 3rd District, Arlene “Kaka” Bag-ao ng Dinagat Islands, Lorenz Defensor ng Iloilo 3rd District, Jonathan Keith Flores ng Bukidnon 2nd District, Ysabel Maria Zamora ng San Juan Lone District, Terry Ridon ng Bicol Saro Party-list, Ramon Rodrigo “Rodge” Gutierrez ng 1-Rider Party-list, at Lordan Suan ng Cagayan de Oro 1st District.
Ayon sa prosecution, may 15 counsel for the prosecutors na tutulong sa House panel sa ilalim ng direct control at supervision nito.
Labing-apat ang personal na nag-enter ng appearance sa impeachment court: Attys. Lorna Kapunan, Armando Virgilio Ligutan, Mae Divinagracia, Sonya Margarita Castillo, Lino Chris Kapunan, Deanne Melissa Lorenzo-Singian, Marforth Fua, Erwin Matib, Justine Anne Lamarca, James Bryan Ibrahim Alih, Reynaldo Robles, Bettina Nepomuceno Zamora, Theodore Te, at Benjamin “Jay” Tolosa Jr.
Sa proceedings, nilinaw ni Escudero na sa ilalim ng Senate Rules on Impeachment, ang House members ay dapat tawaging “panel of prosecutors of the House of Representatives,” habang ang private lawyers na tumutulong sa kanila ay dapat tawaging “counsel for the prosecutors.”
Pagkatapos ng roll call, tinanong ni Escudero si Luistro para kumpirmahin ang kabuuang bilang ng prosecutors at counsel na humaharap para sa House.
Sinabi ni Luistro na bagama’t 14 lamang na counsel for the prosecutors ang personal na nag-enter ng appearance nitong Lunes, lahat ng 15 ay nakapaghain na ng written entries of appearance sa impeachment court.
Paliwanag niya, mas malaking legal team ang binuo ng House dahil ang apat na Articles of Impeachment ay ipiprisinta ng magkakahiwalay na prosecution teams.
“The Articles of Impeachment will be presented by four separate teams, Your Honor. That explains why the panel of prosecutors is joined by 15 counsel for the prosecutors,” sabi ni Luistro. /Bistado
