Kinansela ng Senate impeachment court ang nakatakdang paglilitis kay Vice President Sara Duterte ngayong Martes, August 18, dahil sa inaasahang malakas na ulan at pagbaha dulot ng habagat.
Sa notice na inilabas nitong Lunes at nilagdaan ni Clerk of Court Renato Bantug Jr., sinabi na iniutos ni Presiding Officer Senador Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang pagkansela sa trial.
“In view of the forecast heavy rains/flood tomorrow due to the Southwest Monsoon and upon the instruction of the Presiding Officer, the trial scheduled on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, is hereby cancelled,” saad sa notice.
Walang binanggit na bagong petsa para sa pagpapatuloy ng impeachment trial.
Kinansela rin ng House of Representatives ang plenary session nito ngayong Martes. Magpapatupad naman ito ng work-from-home (WFH) arrangement at itutuloy online ang mga nakatakdang committee meeting.
Inanunsyo ni House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil ang mga bagong arrangement sa advisory na inilabas sa awtoridad ni House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.
“In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions, please be informed that the Plenary Session scheduled today, 18 August 2026, is hereby CANCELLED,” saad sa House advisory.
“All officials and employees shall observe a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement, except those whose physical presence is necessary for essential and critical operations, as determined by their respective Heads of Department,” dagdag nito.
Ipinatupad ng Kamara ang arrangement alinsunod sa Memorandum Circular No. 128 ng Office of the President na may petsang August 17, 2026.
Sa kabila ng kanseladong plenary, itutuloy sa pamamagitan ng Zoom ang mga nakatakdang committee meeting, depende sa desisyon ng kani-kanilang committee chair.
Hindi naman matutuloy ang budget briefing na nakaiskedyul ngayong Martes at ililipat ito sa ibang petsa.
Inatasan ang mga House official at empleyadong naka-WFH na manatiling available at responsive sa official working hours upang hindi maputol ang essential legislative at administrative services.
Binago ng pinakahuling advisory ang naunang direktibang inilabas noong Lunes ng gabi, partikular ang planong idaos sa Zoom ang plenary session. Sa bagong kautusan, tuluyan nang kinansela ang plenary habang nananatiling online ang committee work. /Bistado
