Aabot sa P705.17 milyong halaga ng mga pekeng pabango at cosmetic products ang nadiskubre ng Bureau of Customs sa isang warehouse sa Valenzuela City sa isinagawang raid noong April 10.
Ayon kay Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, nagsimula ang operasyon mula sa intelligence report na nagmula sa kanyang tanggapan at sumailalim sa beripikasyon sa pamamagitan ng inter-agency coordination.
Matapos nito, nagsagawa ng surveillance at intelligence-gathering ang composite team sa naturang warehouse na pinaghihinalaang imbakan ng counterfeit luxury perfumes at unregulated cosmetic products.
Noong April 10, naglabas ng letter of authority na inaprubahan ni Nepomuceno, na nagbigay-daan para agad na maisagawa ang operasyon at inspeksyon sa lugar.
Sa paunang pagsusuri, natuklasan ang napakaraming bilang ng pekeng cosmetic items at pabango na may mga tatak ng international brands tulad ng Dior, Chanel, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Bulgari, Giorgio Armani, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Paco Rabanne, Issey Miyake, Jo Malone, Davidoff, Lanvin Éclat, at Victoria’s Secret.
“We made sure to act on the information immediately. Once the intelligence was validated and access to the warehouse was being delayed, we secured the necessary authority without hesitation so we could properly enter and inspect the premises,” ayon kay Nepomuceno.
Sinuportahan ang operasyon ng mga tauhan mula sa Philippine Coast Guard at Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Patuloy ang imbestigasyon kaugnay sa mga nasamsam na produkto at sa posibleng paglabag sa batas. /Bistado
