Nagdala ng maleta si House impeachment prosecutor at Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon sa Saturday News Forum sa Dapo Restaurant sa Quezon City. Pero hindi pera ang laman.

Gamit ang mga props, pinatamaan ni Ridon ang mga alegasyon ng umano’y 18 dating Marine officers na nagsabing may cash-filled luggage silang idineliver sa ilang lawmakers at personalities, mula umano kay dating Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, kabilang ang ilang House impeachment prosecutors.
“Meron po tayong dalang maleta ngayong araw po na ito,” sabi ni Ridon.
“Hindi po lahat ng maleta may pera, mga kaibigan,” dagdag niya.
Pagkatapos, binitawan niya ang punchline. “Yung iba po, may manga at peluka,” ani Ridon, na malinaw na patama sa ilang senador sa Cayetano-led hearing noong Huwebes.
Para kay Ridon, hindi dapat lamunin ng “maleta” narrative ang paparating na impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte. Mensahe niya: spectacle is not evidence.
“The House and the House Prosecution Panel will not be deterred,” ani Ridon.
“Hindi po kami magpapapigil sa mga kasinungalingan at mga fabricated testimonies po ng kung sino man,” dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Ridon, malinaw na ang June 4 Senate Blue Ribbon hearing ay tumarget sa House prosecution panel para kuwestiyunin ang kredibilidad nito bago magsimula ang trial.
“‘Yun po ‘yung malinaw sa bahagi po ng House prosecution panel. Talaga po ‘yung pagpupulong noong nakaraan ay targeted to discredit the House prosecution panel para paglunsad po ng trial, meron pong credibility questions hanging over the prosecution,” sabi ni Ridon.
Giit niya, hindi mapipigil ng mga alegasyon ang prosecution panel sa pagharap sa Senate impeachment court.
“At hindi ho makakapigil ‘yun pong ganitong slander laban sa House prosecution panel sa pagtutuloy sa paglalantad ng katotohanan sa Senate impeachment court proceedings,” ani Ridon.
“Impeachment trial is coming,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Ridon na tuloy ang trial at ilalatag ng Kamara ang ebidensya laban sa Vice President.
“Tuloy po ang impeachment trial, ilalatag po ng Kamara, ilalatag po ng House Prosecution Panel,” sabi niya.
“Yung AMLC reports, yung NBI reports, yung video documentation ng pagbabanta laban sa Pangulo,” dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Ridon, hindi uurong ang prosecution kahit ano pa ang ibato ng 18 Marines o ng mga sumusuporta sa Vice President.
“Kahit ano pong ibato ng 18 marines at ng kung sino man ho na sumusuporta sa pangalawang pangulo, tuloy po impeachment trial. We will not be deterred,” ani Ridon.
“The evidence will be presented on the bank accounts, on the [Anti-Money Laundering Council] transactions, on each and every piece of evidence needed to convict the Vice President,” dagdag niya.
Mariin ding itinanggi ni Ridon na may natanggap siyang cash delivery. Ayon sa kanya, wala ang pangalan niya sa affidavit na unang lumabas noong February at tila inihabol lang siya sa hearing.
“Halimbawa na lang po sa akin, noong [February] po lumabas ‘yung affidavit, pero ni minsan hindi po ako nabanggit sa listahan po na ‘yun. Ire-reiterate ko today, I was never mentioned in that affidavit at parang hinabol na lang ‘yung pong pangalan ko during that meeting with the 18 marines,” sabi niya.
“Kahit kailan, kahit saang panahon, kahit saan mang lugar, wala po akong natanggap na maleta.”
Kumpiyansa rin si Ridon na makakakuha ang House prosecution panel ng 16 na boto na kailangan para ma-convict ang Vice President.
“Our confidence on convicting the Vice President is not based on the numbers of the Senate or the leadership of the Senate. Our confidence on convicting the Vice President is based on the evidence itself,” sabi niya.
“So pagpalit man o hindi, we’re certain that we will be able to muster the numbers to convict the Vice President. We will get to 16, irrespective of who the leadership was or who the leadership is,” dagdag niya.
Para kay Ridon, hindi mahalaga kung sino ang presiding officer. Ang trabaho ng prosecution ay kumbinsihin ang bawat senator-judge.
“Kasi ang totoo naman, we will still have to convince each and every senator-judge in the course of the proceedings,” sabi niya.
“The magic number is still 16, irrespective of who the Senate President is, irrespective of who the presiding officer is.”
“So bumalik po tayo sa usapin,” ani Ridon.
Ang House prosecution panel ay naghahanda na ng witnesses, documentary evidence, at mock trials para sa bawat Article of Impeachment. Nakatakda ang pre-trial proceedings ngayong buwan, habang target magsimula ang formal impeachment trial sa July 6. /Bistado
