“The Ateneo de Zamboanga University is saddened by the incident that happened today on our JHS campus. As of now, we confirm 2 fatalities. As for other information, we are coordinating with the authorities for a full report, with details to be provided as soon as possible,” pahayag ng AdZU.

“The safety of our students is our top priority. We have already coordinated with parents and guardians to pick up their children, and the university has ensured the safety of those remaining on campus. We have set up official communication channels and will relay these information to the public as soon as possible,” dagdag ng university.

“In view of the circumstances affecting the University community, and to allow sufficient time to attend to the safety and well-being of our students and personnel, classes at all levels are suspended effective today, August 18, 2026, until tomorrow, August 19, 2026,” saad sa memorandum na nilagdaan ni University President Fr. Ernald M. Andal, SJ.

“DepEd stands with the Ateneo de Zamboanga community during this difficult time and is ready to extend whatever support and assistance we can to the affected learners, families, school personnel, and concerned authorities,” anang ahensya.

“We are also coordinating with mental health partners to provide Psychological First Aid and psychosocial support to those affected. We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and sharing sensitive photos, videos, or details about the incident, especially since minors are involved,” dagdag ng DepEd.

/Bistado
