TACLOBAN CITY – Tatlo ang patay at pito ang sugatan matapos ang pamamaril sa loob ng San Jose National High School sa Barangay San Jose, Tacloban City nitong Lunes ng umaga, June 22.
Batay sa police reports, bandang 9 a.m. hanggang 9:20 a.m. nang mangyari ang shooting habang may klase. Dinala sa mga kalapit na ospital ang mga sugatan, habang hindi muna inilabas ng mga awtoridad ang pangalan ng mga biktima habang inaabisuhan ang kanilang pamilya.
Dalawang batang suspek ang naaresto. Ayon sa mga ulat, isa ang agad na nahuli matapos ang insidente, habang ang isa ay tumakas at kalauna’y natagpuan sa kalapit na bahay sa tulong ng impormasyon mula sa mga residente.
Ayon kay Regional Police Chief Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, armado ang mga suspek ng tig-isang pistol. Patuloy pang iniimbestigahan kung paano nila nakuha ang mga baril at kung paano naipasok ang mga ito sa campus.
Sinabi rin ni Capoy na isa lamang ang guard na naka-duty sa paaralan kahit maraming entrances at exits.
“The suspects barged into two rooms because after the shooting in the first, the children scampered and the suspects apparently ran after some victims into another room,” ani Capoy.
Ayon pa kay Capoy, karamihan sa mga nasawi at nasugatan ay mga babaeng estudyante.
Batay sa initial report ng Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO), posibleng may kaugnayan sa “grudge [due to] school bullying” ang motibo. Patuloy pang inaalam ang buong sequence ng pangyayari, relasyon ng mga biktima sa mga suspek, at pinagmulan ng mga armas.
“All the suspects are now in the custody of this station to include the firearms (Cal.38 and 9mm Glock) used in the commission of the crime,” ayon sa police report.
Sinuspinde ang klase sa San Jose Central School, Manlurip Elementary School, at San Jose National High School matapos ang insidente.
Tinawag ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang shooting bilang “high-alert situation” at sinabing mino-mobilize na nito ang tulong para sa mga affected learners.
“We strongly condemn this act of violence and extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as our earnest prayers for the swift recovery of those who were injured. The Central Office is now mobilizing assistance to our affected learners,” ayon sa DepEd.
Nanawagan ang TCPO sa publiko na huwag magpakalat ng hindi pa na-verify na impormasyon habang nagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon.
“We appeal to the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary alarm or hinder the ongoing investigation. We encourage anyone with relevant information regarding the incident to coordinate with the Tacloban City Police Office,” ayon sa TCPO.
Sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na ikinalungkot ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang insidente at ipinag-utos ang malalimang imbestigasyon.
“Ikinalulungkot ng Pangulo ang pangyayari. Kahit sino pa man, lalo na ang mga magulang ng mga nabiktima, ay makakaramdam ng lungkot at takot,” ani Castro.
“Iniuutos ang malalimang pag-iimbestiga rito at pinapasiguro ang proteksyon at kaligtasan sa lahat ng lugar, opisina, establisimyento lalong-lalo na sa mga paaralan,” dagdag niya.
Nagpaabot din ng pakikiramay si Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa mga pamilya ng mga nasawi, sa mga sugatan, at sa komunidad ng paaralan.
“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the tragic shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that claimed the lives of students and left several others injured,” ani Romualdez, na representante ng Tacloban City.
“I have directed my office to coordinate with local authorities and relevant government agencies to determine what assistance can immediately be provided to the affected families,” dagdag niya.
Nanawagan din siya ng mabilis at malalimang imbestigasyon.
“At the same time, I call on law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough and swift investigation so that all those responsible are held fully accountable under the law,” ani Romualdez. /Bistado
