Alas Girls ngiting panalo sa 15th place sa FIVB U17

Nagtapos sa 15th place ang Alas Pilipinas sa FIVB Girls’ U17 World Championship matapos manaig kontra Czechia, 21-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-22, nitong Linggo ng gabi (oras sa Pilipinas) sa Santiago, Chile.

Na-ungusan ng mga batang Alas ang men’s team na pumwesto 19th overall sa 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship sa ginanap sa Pilipinas.

Umukit din ng kasaysayan ang koponan bilang unang Philippine team na umakyat sa U17 Worlds, na pinaglabanan ng 24 bansa.

Nakarating sa Chile ang Alas Girls sa bisa ng fifth place finish sa 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation U16 Championship sa Jordan.

Samantala, maglalaban para sa kampyonato ang USA at Turkiye.

Sa semifinals, tinalo ng USA ang defending champion China, 25-23, 25-15, 25-19, at nagwagi ang Turkiye kontra Chinese Taipei, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.

Nakasama ng Pilipinas sa Pool B ang China, México, Peru, Tunisia at Venezuela. Tinalo nila ang Tunisia at Peru sa unang round.

Ang mga miyembro ng Alas ay sina Caera Celis, Jhaynna Love Bulandres, Irish May Mahinay, Megan Yesha Hernandez, Xyz Ellen Rayco, Sharina Rhyza Lleses, Princess Khaira Manzano, Frances Dianne Ramos, Resty Jane Olaguir, Jello Andrea Mauricio, Nadeth Faye Herbon, Cristina Madela Gale, Jhenica Sadia at Taj Arkhea Teves.

Ayon kay Celis, hindi nila makakalimutan ang torneo dahil bihira ang nakakarating sa world championship.

“I hope I remember how special it was to be 16 years old and represent the Philippines on the world stage,” ani outside hitter na si Celis, na ipinagmamalaki ng St. John’s Institute-Hua Ming – Bacolod City. “I’ll definitely remember the games, the experience, and all the people I shared this journey with. I also hope I remember all the challenges we went through, because those moments helped me grow not just as a player, but also as a person.”

“Most of all, I want to look back and feel proud that I gave my best, enjoyed every moment, and was grateful for the opportunity to represent my country.”
