Hindi lahat ng batang Pilipino ay may sapat na kakayahang pinansyal upang magsanay sa ibang bansa.
Sa Pilipinas mismo, kailangan ng mas maraming pasilidad, programa at mga coach upang makipagsabayan sa internasyonal na entablado, tulad ng nangyari kay Alexandra “Alex” Eala.
Matapos umabot ni Eala sa quarterfinals ng Wimbledon, isa sa apat ng Grand Slam ng tennis, nagkaroon ng ambisyon si Camarines Sur Governor LRay Villafuerte na magtatag ng isang world-class tennis academy para sa mga batang Pilipinong may talento na sumunod sa yapak ni Eala.
Hinamon ni Villafuerte ang mga pribadong kumpanya, sports organizations, mamumuhunan at iba pang indibidwal na gusting sumuporta sa pangarap nya na tumulong sa probinsya ng Camarines Sur.
“Our country has produced a world-class tennis star, but imagine how many more Alex Ealas we can develop if we create the right opportunities here at home,” ani Villafuerte sa isang Facebook post kamakailan.
“As part of our CamSur Uptown development, we are prepared to allocate land for the establishment of a world-class Tennis Academy — one that can nurture future Filipino champions and provide deserving young athletes with opportunities that many currently do not have.”
Sa Ilocos Norte, bago pa man ang Wimbledon, ginagawa na ang Tennis on Wheels Philippines sa Ferdinand E. Marcos Sports Stadium tennis court sa Laoag.
Bukas ang programa sa mga bata na edad dose pababa.
Mayroon din libreng coaching sessions para sa matatanda upang ma-engganyo silang suportahan ang mga bata.
“I express hope that by enticing children to play tennis, they will learn valuable lessons that extend far beyond the court,” ani Ilocos Norte 2nd District Rep. Eugenio Angelo Barba, na nagpasimula ng programa at mahilig din maglaro ng tennis.
“I believe that sport is an investment in the overall well-being of an individual, and the best way is to start them young.”
Uuwi si Eala sa Pilipinas para sa isang fan meet sa Hulyo 15 na gaganapin sa Glorietta Activity Center sa Makati City.
Susunod siyang maglalaro sa WTA 1000 National Bank Open sa Toronto, Canada simula Agosto 2, kung saan nakakuha siya ng “first-round bye,” na ibig sabihin ay abante siya agad sa susunod na round.
Hangad ni Villafuerte na magkaroon movement o sama-samang paggalaw mula sa inspirasyong dala ni Eala.
“A movement that discovers, trains, and inspires the next generation of Filipino champions,” ani Villafuerte.
