MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Tatlong taon nang may tuloy-tuloy at libreng malinis na tubig ang 549 kabahayan sa Barangay Ican dahil sa government-funded solar-powered water system na may filtration facility.
Ayon kay Barangay Captain Michael Cardenas na mula nang matapos ang proyekto noong July 2023, libre nang nakakakuha ng tubig ang mga residente sa kanilang barangay.
Hindi pa kasama sa bilang ang mga kabahayan mula sa kalapit na mga bayan ng Sta. Barbara at Calasiao na kumukuha rin ng tubig sa pasilidad.
“Even during drought, when there is no more water in the residences, the water supply here is continuous,” sabi ni Cardenas.
Pinondohan ang proyekto ng halos P5 milyon mula sa national government sa ilalim ng Financial Assistance to Local Government Unit-Potable Water.
Ang barangay council naman ang sumasagot sa maintenance ng water system.
“The municipal government conducts regular monitoring so we ensure it is always safe and clean for the sake of the residents,” sabi ni Cardenas.
Dahil solar-powered ang pasilidad, nakatitipid din ang barangay dahil wala nang binabayarang konsumo sa kuryente para mapatakbo ito.
“This is a big help to many households. We just ask for everybody’s cooperation to maintain its cleanliness at all times,” dagdag niya. /Bistado
