Pormal na inilunsad ng Meta nitong Huwebes ang revamped safety features para sa mga menor de edad sa social media platforms nito, kasabay ng Screen Smart digital literacy program na layong turuan ang publiko tungkol sa mga bagong proteksyon online.
Sa launch event sa Fairmont Makati, sinabi ni Meta Asia Pacific head of safety policy Malina Enlund na konkretong ambag ito ng platform sa digital safety agenda ng Pilipinas.
“The initiative responds to growing demand among families, educators, and policymakers for practical approaches to protecting young people online,” sabi ni Enlund.
Kabilang sa safety features ang updated Instagram Teen Account, na naglilimita sa content na makikita at makaka-engage ng mga batang edad 13 pataas.
“These revamped settings build on the protections already in Teen Accounts, which are turned on by default automatically for users aged 13-17, and parents decide if teens under 16 can change any settings to be less strict,” sabi niya.
Sa ilalim ng updated settings, kailangang tanggapin muna ng teens ang new followers bago makita ng mga ito ang kanilang content.
Papayagan lamang ang messages mula sa mga taong fina-follow nila o konektado sa kanila, at maaari lang silang ma-tag o ma-mention ng mga taong fina-follow nila.
Pwede ring magtakda ang parents ng daily time limits sa app. May bago ring “sleep mode” na magmu-mute ng lahat ng notifications overnight at magpapadala ng auto-replies sa mga direct message.
“Meta is taking a proactive approach to teen safety by embedding protections directly into our platforms by default. We are giving Filipino parents greater peace of mind that their teens are interacting with age-appropriate content from the moment they log on,” sabi ni Enlund.
Dumalo rin sa event ang ilang opisyal ng gobyerno at private sector representatives, kabilang sina Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda, Council for the Welfare of Children Undersecretary Angelo Tapales, Stairway Foundation child protection specialist Ysrael Diloy, at National Youth Commission Chair Jeff Ortega.
Layunin ng Screen Smart digital literacy program na pagtagpuin ang stakeholders para sa mga talakayan tungkol sa youth online safety.
Inilarawan din ito bilang follow-through at complement ng Meta sa Digital Bayanihan Safety Summit ng Department of Information and Communications Technology. /Bistado
