Hindi umubra sa House prosecution ang pagtanggi ni Vice President Sara Duterte na may pagmamay-ari siya sa mga Jollibee franchise matapos igiit na siya mismo ang nagdeklara sa kanyang Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) ng shares sa GenCorp Industries Inc., kumpanyang may hawak ng naturang mga prangkisa.
Ayon kay House lead prosecutor at Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro nitong Martes, October 20, nakasaad sa 2022 at 2023 SALNs ni Duterte ang kanyang interes sa GenCorp.
“I wish to reiterate the jurisprudence, which I shared already before the honorable impeachment court, that the court gives more weight to admissions made by a public official,” sabi ni Luistro.
“And as a matter of fact, it throws to the public official to show that that admission is a mistake and as far as we can remember, never pa niya dinispute yung SALN na yun. Never pa niya dinispute na shareholder talaga siya ng GenCorp Industries, Inc.,” dagdag niya.
Nauna nang itinanggi ni Duterte na personal siyang nagmamay-ari ng Jollibee franchise. Iginiit niyang namuhunan lamang siya sa isang kumpanyang bahagi ng lehitimong business organization.
Pero ayon kay Luistro, dapat direktang ipaliwanag ito ng Bise Presidente sa impeachment court.
“You cannot operate a Jollibee unless you are a franchise holder. We know that. And siguro mas maganda sagutin niya squarely before the impeachment court so that all her representations will be considered as testimony in court,” aniya.
Iginiit din ni Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon na may kaukulang interes sa negosyo ang shareholder ng kumpanyang may hawak ng franchise.
Gayunman, magkaiba ang direktang personal na pagmamay-ari ng franchise at pagkakaroon ng shares sa kumpanyang nagpapatakbo nito.
Bahagi ang usapin sa Article II o unexplained wealth na natitirang impeachment charge laban kay Duterte. Wala pang pinal na desisyon ang Senate Impeachment Court. /Bistado
