Tutugisin ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga miyembro ng True Brown Style (TBS), isang grupong iniuugnay sa recruitment ng mga menor de edad para sa criminal activities.
Ayon kay Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, karamihan umano sa TBS members ay nasa edad 18 hanggang 20 at nagre-recruit ng mga batang 14 hanggang 15 anyos. Bahagi umano ng initiation ang pagnanakaw sa convenience stores.
“There is a group called TBS, True Brown Style. That is our next focus of our attention. We are going to dismantle this syndicate. It’s a community-based syndicate of 20 year-olds who are grooming children as young as 14 and 15 to become criminals,” sabi ni Remulla.
May presensya umano ang TBS sa 78 sa 83 probinsiya, kabilang ang Metro Manila, at nakapokus sa urban centers.
“’Yung iba malaki (ang grupo), ‘yung iba maliit pero mostly sa mga urban centers sila nagco-concentrate… Meron silang head per barangay, meron silang head per municipality tapos may recruitment drive sila. Gang sila. There are no values attached to it, talagang criminality lang,” ani Remulla.
Iniutos ni PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ang mas mahigpit na intelligence gathering at monitoring laban sa mga grupong nagre-recruit o naggo-groom ng minors para sa krimen.
“The PNP fully supports this initiative and we will work closely with the DILG and other concerned agencies to identify, disrupt, and dismantle groups that recruit or groom minors into criminal activities. Our priority is to protect children from exploitation while holding those who prey on them accountable under the law,” sabi ni Nartatez.
Makikipag-ugnayan din ang pulisya sa local governments, barangays, schools, parents at communities para maagapan ang recruitment.
Hinimok ang publiko na ireport sa pinakamalapit na police station o Unified 911 hotline ang impormasyon tungkol sa recruitment ng minors at iba pang criminal activities. /Bistado
