Good news para sa mga nagwo-worry sa kanilang kuryente bills!
Walang putulan ng kuryente dahil sa hindi nabayarang bills para sa August hanggang October 2026 matapos palawigin ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ang consumer protection measures sa buong bansa.
Sakop ng direktiba ang residential at non-residential consumers sa captive markets ng lahat ng distribution utilities (DUs) sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao.
“All Distribution Utilities (DUs) in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao shall SUSPEND electricity service disconnections of residential and non-residential consumers in their captive markets for non-payment of electricity bills covering the period August 2026 to October 2026 (Extended Covered Billing Period),” nakasaad sa ERC advisory.
Pinalawig ang mga hakbang alinsunod sa Executive Order (EO) No. 110 na inilabas noong March 24, 2026. Nagdeklara ito ng State of National Energy Emergency dahil sa sigalot sa Middle East at banta sa availability at stability ng energy supply ng bansa.
Hindi kinansela ang mga bayarin, pero inatasan ang DUs na magbigay ng staggered o deferred payment options para mabawasan ang bigat sa consumers.
“DUs shall implement staggered or deferred payment schemes to ease the financial burden on consumers,” ayon sa ERC.
Ang kumokonsumo ng hindi lalampas sa 200 kilowatt-hours (kWh) bawat buwan ay maaaring ipagpaliban ang pagbabayad ng August hanggang October bills. Maaari itong hulugan nang hindi bababa sa tatlong buwan mula sa pagtanggap ng bill, at ilalagay ang installments sa mga susunod na billing statement.
Maaari pa ring bayaran nang buo ang bills ng consumers na may kakayahang magbayad.
“However, nothing in this Advisory shall preclude a consumer from paying his or her electric bills in full for the Extended Covered Billing Period. Thus, consumers, who are able to pay their electric bills in full, are urged to pay the same,” saad ng advisory.
Inatasan din ang generation companies (GenCos), Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM), National Power Corporation (NPC), National Transmission Corporation (TRANSCO), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), independent power producers (IPPs), independent power producer administrators (IPPAs) at market operator (MO) na ibigay sa DUs ang kaparehong payment scheme.
Kailangang ihiwalay ng DUs ang nakolektang bayad para matukoy ang halagang dapat ibigay sa mga power supplier at iba pang stakeholder. Babayaran ito sa staggered basis nang hindi bababa sa tatlong buwan.
Inatasan ang DUs na magsumite ng compliance sa mga direktiba sa o bago ang October 30. /Bistado
