Isinusulong ng Pilipinas at South Korea ang mga strategic investment sa semiconductors, shipbuilding, at infrastructure upang lumikha ng trabaho at palakasin ang mahahalagang industriya sa bansa.
Tinalakay nina Finance Secretary Frederick Go at Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-Hwa ang investment pipeline sa isang courtesy meeting, kabilang ang mga oportunidad sa ilalim ng Luzon Economic Corridor.
Ayon kay Go, nakasandal ang partnership sa technical expertise ng South Korea at sa young and skilled workforce ng Pilipinas.
“These investments represent opportunities for Filipinos through better jobs, improved connectivity, and more reliable services. We look forward to working closely with Korea to deliver projects that are truly responsive to the needs of the people,” sabi ni Go.
Kabilang sa mga proyektong tinalakay ang pagpapalawak ng multilayer ceramic capacitor manufacturing facility ng Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines sa Laguna.
Inaasahang lilikha ito ng high-value jobs at magpapalakas sa papel ng Pilipinas sa global semiconductor at electronics supply chain.
Ang proyekto ang unang investment na nakatanggap ng presidential incentives sa ilalim ng CREATE MORE Act. Ang multilayer ceramic capacitors ay ginagamit sa mga sasakyan, smartphone, at iba pang electronic devices.
Tinalakay din ng dalawang panig ang proposed expansion ng SFA Semicon para dagdagan ang semiconductor assembly at testing capacity sa Pilipinas.
Sa shipbuilding, nakatakdang ilunsad ngayong taon ng HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Philippines ang una nitong locally built vessel mula sa Subic shipyard.
Ang mahigit 200-meter vessel ay itinuturing na milestone para sa local shipbuilding industry at suporta sa papel ng Pilipinas bilang regional maritime manufacturing hub.
Kasosyo rin ang South Korea sa North-South Commuter Railway at Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas Railway.
Kapag natapos, inaasahang mapapahusay ng mga proyektong ito ang connectivity sa Luzon, mapapababa ang travel time at logistics costs, at mas mapapabilis ang galaw ng tao at produkto sa pagitan ng major economic centers.
Tinalakay din ng Pilipinas at South Korea ang posibleng cooperation sa nuclear energy habang pinapalakas ng Maynila ang energy security at dinidiversify ang energy mix ng bansa.
