Umakyat sa 61 ang reported deaths na bineberipika matapos ang magnitude 7.8 earthquake na tumama sa Maasim, Sarangani noong June 8, ayon sa Office of Civil Defense (OCD) nitong Linggo.
Sa mensahe sa media, sinabi ni OCD Public Information Officer Diego Mariano na pito sa nasawi ay mula sa Region 11 o Davao Region, habang 54 ay mula sa Region 12 o Soccsksargen.
Aabot na rin sa 1,403 ang injured at 40 ang missing as of posting time.
Sa mga nasugatan, isa ang naiulat sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, 46 sa Region 11, at 1,356 sa Region 12.
Sa mga nawawala, 22 ang mula Region 11 at 18 ang mula Region 12.
Umabot na rin sa 173,000 pamilya, o 724,000 katao, ang apektado ng lindol.
Nasa 2,000 pamilya, o 10,000 indibidwal, ang nananatili sa 34 evacuation centers as of posting time.
Ayon kay Mariano, 725 infrastructure facilities ang naiulat na naapektuhan. Tinatayang nasa P1 billion ang infrastructure damage.
Umabot din sa 54,000 ang damaged houses, kabilang ang 44,100 partially damaged at 9,900 totally damaged.
Samantala, sinabi ng Philippine Army (PA) na naghatid ang responders nito ng aid at potable water sa isolated quake-hit communities sa Sarangani at Davao Occidental.
“Army responders, together with the Philippine Air Force and the Philippine Coast Guard, successfully delivered essential food packs, clean water, and medical relief to isolated areas in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, and Glan, Sarangani Province,” ayon kay PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala sa statement nitong Linggo.
Ayon kay Dema-ala, nag-deploy din ang Army troops, katuwang ang Bureau of Fire Protection, ng mobile water filtration system para sa quake-affected families sa Maasim, Sarangani.
Nakikipag-ugnayan din umano ang PA humanitarian assistance and disaster response teams sa national government agencies at local government units para sa coordinated relief operations.
Sa panig ng Philippine Navy, binisita ni Joint Task Force Sinaya head Commodore Ireneo Battung ang Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental noong June 12 “to engage with and boost the morale of deployed personnel” na tumutulong sa earthquake relief operations.
Patuloy ang deployed forces sa pamamahagi ng relief supplies, transportasyon ng essential goods, at iba pang humanitarian services para sa mga residenteng naapektuhan. /Bistado
