Sinabi ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) na may “indispensable cooperation” si Sen. Robin Padilla sa umano’y pagtakas ni Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa mula sa Senate premises noong madaling-araw ng May 14.
“May indispensable cooperation. It will not happen without him,” ani CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II tungkol sa papel umano ni Padilla. Nilinaw naman ni Philippine National Police public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co na hindi pa isinasampa ng CIDG ang reklamo kaugnay nito sa Department of Justice.
Ayon sa CIDG, magrerefer ito ng obstruction of justice complaint laban kay Padilla at ilang iba pa kaugnay ng pag-alis ni Dela Rosa sa Senado matapos ang Senate custody controversy, ICC warrant issue, at shooting incident sa Senate complex.
“Following a thorough investigation, the CIDG has officially concluded that the transport of Senator Dela Rosa was not a mere hitch ride on Senator Padilla’s car, but a highly coordinated, preplanned logistical maneuver specifically executed to avoid detection while escaping the Senate premises on the dawn of May 14, 2026,” saad ng CIDG.
Ayon pa sa CIDG, ang reklamo ay para sa paglabag sa Presidential Decree No. 1829, o obstruction of justice.
“The PNP CIDG will refer a complaint for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1829 (Obstruction of Justice) against Sen. Robinhood ‘Robin’ C. Padilla and several persons who facilitated the escape of Sen. Ronald ‘Bato’ M. Dela Rosa before the National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice,” ayon sa police unit.
Lumabas din umano sa imbestigasyon na may isa pang sasakyang nakasunod sa kotse ni Padilla mula Senado hanggang Makati. Ayon sa CIDG, nagsilbi itong security escort at backup car sa maneuver.
“Furthermore, the investigation revealed that there was another vehicle tailing the car of Senator Padilla, which served as a security escort and backup car during the maneuver,” dagdag ng CIDG.
Nauna nang iginiit ni Padilla na sumabay lamang si Dela Rosa sa kanyang sasakyan at ibinaba niya ito sa Makati City nang hindi nagtatanong kung saan ito pupunta. Itinanggi rin niya ang paglalarawang tumakas sila sa Senado.
Si Dela Rosa ay wanted ng International Criminal Court kaugnay ng kanyang alleged role sa drug war ng administrasyon ni dating President Rodrigo Duterte. Nagsilbi siyang Philippine National Police chief mula 2016 hanggang 2018 at kabilang sa mga tinukoy na co-perpetrators sa crimes against humanity case laban kay Duterte.
Noong May 11, nagtangkang isilbi ng National Bureau of Investigation ang ICC arrest warrant nang lumitaw si Dela Rosa sa Senado matapos ang ilang buwang hindi pagpapakita sa publiko. Kalaunan, inilagay siya sa Senate “protective custody.”
Matapos ang shooting incident sa Senate complex noong May 13, umalis si Dela Rosa sa Senate building kasama si Padilla bago mag-umaga ng May 14.
Noong May 20, ibinasura ng Supreme Court ang hiling ni Dela Rosa para sa temporary restraining order laban sa posibleng pag-aresto, habang nilinaw na hindi pa nareresolba ang main issues sa kaso. Pagkatapos nito, inatasan ng Department of Justice ang NBI at PNP na ipatupad ang ICC warrant.
Nitong Miyerkules, nagtungo ang CIDG at NBI sa apat na address sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, at Pampanga para hanapin si Dela Rosa, pero hindi nila ito natagpuan.
Kinuwestiyon naman ni Nancy Dela Rosa, asawa ng senador, ang umano’y warrantless search sa bahay ng kaibigan ni Dela Rosa na si Cholly Abilla Cabanban.
“Pwede ba ito? Papasok na lang kahit na kaninong bahay. Martial law na ba?” ani Nancy sa Facebook post.
Para sa CIDG, ang pagtulong sa pag-iwas sa pag-aresto ay may direktang epekto sa justice system.
“When individuals actively interfere in the arrest or assist in the evasion of criminal offenders to avoid prosecution, it undermines the justice system and compromises public order,” saad ng CIDG. /Bistado
