Medyo tumumal ang ambag ng turismo sa ekonomiya noong 2025, matapos bumaba ang Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA) sa P2.27 trillion mula P2.30 trillion noong 2024, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Sa datos na inilabas ng PSA nitong Huwebes, May 28, ang share ng tourism sa Philippine economy, batay sa Gross Domestic Product, ay nasa 8.1 percent noong 2025.
Mas mababa ito kumpara sa 2024 performance, dahil ang TDGVA ay bumaba ng 1.4 percent year-on-year.
Ang TDGVA ay tumutukoy sa bahagi ng gross value added na nalilikha ng mga industriya na direktang nagbibigay ng goods at services sa visitors.
Sa madaling sabi, ito ang sukatan kung gaano kalaki ang direktang ambag ng tourism industries sa ekonomiya.
Sakop ng Tourism Satellite Account ang gastos ng visitors sa accommodation services, food and beverage serving services, transport services, travel agencies at reservation services, entertainment and recreation services, shopping, at miscellaneous tourism services.
Sa iba’t ibang tourism expenditures, pinakamabilis ang paglago ng outbound tourism expenditure. Umakyat ito ng 3.5 percent at umabot sa P357.93 billion noong 2025.
Sumunod ang domestic tourism expenditure, na lumago ng 3.0 percent mula P3.16 trillion noong 2024 tungo sa P3.26 trillion noong 2025.
Ibig sabihin, mas gumastos ang mga Pilipino sa domestic travel, kahit humina ang ilang bahagi ng tourism economy.
Pero bumaba ang inbound tourism expenditure, o gastos ng foreign at non-resident visitors sa bansa. Mula P745.99 billion noong 2024, bumagsak ito ng 6.4 percent sa P698.46 billion noong 2025.
Ang internal tourism expenditure, na pinagsamang inbound at domestic tourism spending, ay lumago pa rin ng 1.2 percent, mula P3.91 trillion noong 2024 tungo sa P3.96 trillion noong 2025.
Sa trabaho, mas positibo ang datos.
Umabot sa 7.70 million katao ang employed sa tourism industries noong 2025. Mas mataas ito ng 2.5 percent kumpara sa 7.51 million katao noong 2024.
Naitala rin ng PSA na ang tourism employment ay katumbas ng 15.7 percent ng total employment sa bansa noong 2025.
Ibig sabihin, kahit medyo humina ang direct value added ng turismo sa ekonomiya, patuloy pa ring lumaki ang bilang ng mga taong may trabaho sa tourism-related industries.
Nilinaw din ng PSA na nirebisa ang series mula 2000 hanggang 2024 para sa TDGVA, Gross Value Added of Tourism Industries, at Employment in Tourism Industries dahil sa updates sa Philippine Tourism Statistical Classification System, na inaprubahan ng PSA Board noong 2025.
