Arestado ang dalawang Chinese nationals sa operasyon sa San Simon, Pampanga noong May 14 matapos ipatupad ang search warrant kaugnay ng umano’y paglabag sa Republic Act No. 6969, o Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act of 1990.
Isinagawa ang operasyon ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), kasama ang local police units at support forces, sa isang warehouse facility kung saan nadiskubre ang hinihinalang hazardous at regulated materials.
Nasamsam sa raid ang tire wires, tire ash, whole and cut tires, pati industrial equipment at heavy machinery na umano’y ginagamit sa processing activities.
Ayon sa CIDG, umabot sa humigit-kumulang P9.5 million ang estimated value ng mga nakumpiskang item.
Nasa kustodiya na ng CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 ang dalawang naarestong foreign nationals para sa proper documentation at legal proceedings.
Secured naman ang mga narekober na materyales habang hinihintay ang koordinasyon sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau para sa tamang handling at disposition. /Bistado
