Pitong indibidwal ang inaresto at 12 umano’y trafficke victims ang nasagip, kabilang ang ilang menor de edad at isang sanggol, sa serye ng entrapment at rescue operations ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa Parañaque City noong May 7.
Isinagawa ng NBI-Homicide Division ang operasyon para sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 10364, o Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
Nag-ugat ang operasyon sa intelligence information mula sa isang non-governmental organization tungkol sa umano’y human trafficking group na sangkot sa sexual exploitation ng minors sa ilalim ng spa at wellness services.
Ayon sa NBI, iniaalok umano ng grupo ang victims bilang “therapists” para sa “nuru massage” at “lingam massage,” na sa imbestigasyon ay lumabas na may sexual services kapalit ng pera.
Matapos ang report, nagsagawa ang NBI-Homicide Division agents ng surveillance, monitoring, at online coordination sa mga subject sa pamamagitan ng social media platforms.
“This led operatives to an establishment identified as ‘Rainbow Spa,’ where undercover agents confirmed that illegal activities were being conducted there,” ayon sa NBI.
Sa operasyon, inalok ang undercover agents ng serbisyo ng dalawang female therapists at dinala sila sa kalapit na apartelle. Matapos iabot ang marked money, nagpakilala ang operatives at ni-rescue ang victims.
Naaresto rin sa lugar ang dalawang lalaki na umano’y responsable sa pag-transport at pag-deliver ng minor victims sa clients.
Sa follow-up investigation, natukoy na ilang victims at suspects ang nananatili sa isang residence sa Fortunata Village, Parañaque City. Nagtungo roon ang NBI agents, na nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto ng dalawa pang indibidwal at pagkakasagip ng walo pang victims.
Natukoy din na may dalawang minor victims na dinadala pa sa magkahiwalay na lokasyon para magserbisyo sa clients.
“Follow-up investigation identified the alleged operators of the trafficking syndicate, a couple residing in Fourth Estate, Brgy. San Antonio, Parañaque City. A subsequent operation led to their successful arrest,” ayon sa NBI.
Kasabay nito, nagsagawa ang isa pang NBI-Homicide Division team ng rescue operation sa isang motel sa Pasay City.
“Simultaneously, another team of NBI-Homicide Division agents conducted a rescue operation at a motel in Pasay City, where a minor victim was rescued, and her male client was arrested. Additionally, another female victim was recovered during an inventory and verification operation conducted at the Fortunata Village residence,” dagdag ng NBI.
Na-inquest na ang mga naaresto sa kaukulang prosecutorial office para sa violations ng RA 10364 at iba pang applicable laws.
“Human trafficking is a cruel assault on human dignity, especially when the victims are minors who are robbed of their innocence and future. The NBI will continue to intensify its operations against trafficking syndicates and ensure that those responsible are brought before the law,” ani NBI Director Melvin A. Matibag.
